DIY: Doily Shorts

I love wearing statement shorts in the spring and summer, it adds a unique touch to any outfit and these ones really brought out my inner grandma.  The idea was really basic and only required a few things that you will probably have at home.

To start out, you're going to need: a pair of cutoff shorts, a needle and thread, and a few doilies (I recommend mixing sizes and textures to give them a patchwork vibe).

Once you have your supplies together you're going to want to arrange the doilies is the pattern that you want on your shorts, don't be afraid to overlap them when your arranging them on the shorts.  Once you have the design you want cut off any excess fabric from the doilies so them line up with the shorts. Now with your needle and thread sew the doilies onto the shorts, this was probably the most tedious part of making the shorts but the result was so worth it.

These shorts are perfect for spring and summer and can be worn with practically anything you already have in your wardrobe.  A post on how I style these shorts with be coming up soon. Love Always..

Introduction

I'm new to this so I guess I'll just let you guys know a little bit about me.  I'm basically that girl that everyone thinks is a freak but turns out to be really cool once you get past her unruly hair and sarcastic nature.  Don't have any plans for my life so this is where you guys come in, this is your formal invitation to be a part of this twisted little family.  I like to think I'm funny and I also like to think I have somewhat of an eye for fashion.  If this blog doesn't go anywhere I can always resort to my second option of being an old cat lady with a tragic looking topknot. Love Always, Rachel
